Meet Wanda Quill— College Park Educator and Mom

My name is Wanda Quill and I am a happily-married mom of two boys, ages 12 and 10. I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and my family and I moved to Central Florida when I was two years old. My husband Don also grew up in Central Florida and we met when I was 16 at a Beastie Boys concert. Don and I got married 22 years ago and we moved to Fort Lauderdale soon after. In 2005, we moved back to Central Florida to be closer to family and eventually became College Park residents in 2011. As luck would have it I live in College Park, as well as my best friend of 20 years. There’s no other place we would rather live and raise our boys than College Park.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have two boys ages 12 and 10. Ethan is a 7th grade student at Howard Middle and Donovan is a 5th grade student at Princeton Elementary. Both of my boys play recreational baseball for Orlando Babe Ruth and are on the Storm travel team.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I worked as an elementary school teacher for 11 years before taking a leave of absence to stay home with my babies. After being away from the school system for 6 years, I took a job at Princeton Elementary’s front office as the registrar. My favorite part of my job is my daily interaction with the children and the parents that live in my community. I have had the pleasure to meet so many new and wonderful College Park families along the way. As an added bonus, Princeton happens to be where my boys attend or attended school.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
My favorite local restaurants are The Tap Room and Armando’s.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in College Park for 9 years.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
If I could travel anywhere in the world right now it would be the Amalfi Coast because it is in my opinion the most beautiful place on Earth.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Our community feels like a small town within a big city.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
In ten years, I see myself the proud mom of two college students.
