Meet Micah Kropp — College Park Digital Marketer and Dad

 

m a California native, Florida State alum, and College Park resident. I have a beautiful, amazing wife, and two awesome kids. I love sports, travel, and socializing with friends and family. I’m an Orlando Rugby player, Grace Church member, Princeton Panther parent, and Orlando Babe Ruth assistant coach. I moved to College Park 7 years ago and work remote for a tech company.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My wife, Julie, is an excellent mother and one of the most kind-hearted people you will ever meet. She is learning to code in her spare time from being a super mom. My son, Miles, is 6 years old and LOVES sports. He is starting Kindergarten this year and has baseball, basketball, and football seasons under his belt. My 4 year old daughter, Meadow, is an animal loving, Disney princess super fan. She enjoys ballerina classes and going for bike rides with her guinea pig Lucy riding in her basket.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’m currently the Sr. Director of Global Partnerships & Digital Strategy at Active Network (Active.com). We help organizations such as YMCAs and Ironman Triathlon host events, classes, etc. I oversee our consumer ecommerce and marketing org. I am passionate about the intersection of sports and technology and want to continue to grow in that arena.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Rusteak, Graffiti, Rigazzi’s

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We moved to College Park from San Diego in 2014

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Dan Cockerell. Former VP of Disney’s Magic Kingdom is now a leadership and culture consultant. Has excellent advice on his “How is the Culture in Your Kingdom” podcast.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
South Africa. Because a Facebook survey told me I should….But seriously, I would love to go stay on the beach in Cape Town and take trips to go on a Safari, view Great White Sharks in action, and check out a Springbok rugby match

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
HBO’s “The Wire” is an all-time great

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Be kind and empathetic. Pursue your passions. Stop and smell the roses. Exercise

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Sit courtside for a Golden State Warriors game with my son

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Publix

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Michael Jordan. Would love to learn from the GOAT. Rusteak.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The small town feel so close to the downtown of a major city.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Right here in College Park should my career growth permit it. I love the neighborhood, the people, and the school system. Looking forward to being a parent of two Princeton Panthers.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I played on Team USA in the Touch Rugby World Cup in Scotland in 2012.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Moorea, Tahiti

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Christmas day is great. Love seeing the joy on my kids’ faces and spending time with family. The holiday parties leading up to it aren’t too shabby either.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Orlando Babe Ruth. Awesome organization for our kiddos and community.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My dad. He has dedicated his life to his work, family, and faith. And has been successful across the board.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Everything else is a distant second.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Safe haven. Place to chill and relax. Full of family memories.
