Meet Ian Tafoya — College Park Florist
I spent most of my younger years living in the Philippines, born as a Military “brat” I was a world traveler before the age of 10. My father was stationed in Japan, Italy, Singapore, and Spain. We finally settled in Denver, Colorado where I rode out the rest of my teenage years. When I turned 18 I decided to join the Peace Corp and was given such a wonderful opportunity to work with a medical team in Togo, Africa to help teach “Woman’s Empowerment”. It was the most challenging 2 years of my life, but I will always be reminded of how grateful I am for what I am given in life.
I built an amazing career in the restaurant industry for over 25 years and climbed my way to becoming the Food and Beverage Director for the Country Club of Orlando. I spent 15 years at the Country Club of Orlando building some incredible relationships and re defining my abilities in the industry. Along with having the title of F&B Director I also was given a title of “Inhouse Florist” to help with the Catering Team with an idea to make the club a “one-stop shop” for events and wedding. I developed such a love and passion for the flowers, not just in designing but for the reaction of seeing happy, joy, and love “feeling” from the recipients. Its such an amazing experience to have my business continue to move forward and watch it grow everyday, which I wouldn’t be able to do with out the continued support of my community in College Park.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
